What is it with all these apparent child prodigies nailing rock and roll classics suddenly? We’ve seen six-year-olds slaying the Foo Fighters and Brit kiddos conquering Metallica. Heck, I think I just stepped on a teensy guitarist. Now we have a five-year-old kicking butt on Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll.”

If they adopt the irresistible, no-holds-barred approach used by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards in their autobiographies, then the forthcoming memoir by original MTV veejays Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn could be a sizzler.

After all, it was the crazy 80s with all that cocaine and booze and those wacky shoulder pads, y’all.

If you were alive in the 1980s, the name Huey Lewis and the News will ring familiar and either fill your heart with glee as you reflect back on all the fun youthful things you did to the band’s never-ending airplay… or make you want to hurl.

Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters – competition is already nipping at his heels. Credit Getty Images.
File under too cute! He’s only six years old, was born prematurely and is apparently self-taught, but Jaxon Smith seems well on his way to rock and roll celebrity… check out his drum chops on the Foo Fighters song "Pretender" below.

A video of Jaxon - who also plays Rush, Heart and the Who (of course he does!) - has been making the rounds. It’s even more impressive given that two Foos – Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins – are not only ace drummers but legendary hard-hitters.  That Jaxon can keep up is amazing.

Say what you will about KISS bassist Gene Simmons and his dubious forays into reality TV and brand-building (and yes, that hair). When it comes to butt-kicking rock and roll, you can’t touch the guy.

So the fact that he is credited with discovering Canuck combo The Envy – even signing them to his Simmons Records label – speaks volumes about what the band has to offer.

Bruce Springsteen in concert, courtesy Getty Images.
Remember that famed Bruce Springsteen video for the song “Dancing in the Dark?” It’s notable because in it, he pulled a supposedly random “fan” out of the audience to dance with him on-stage… except the fan happened to be Courteney Cox, who went on to become the world famous actress from Friends. The routine would be repeated many times at subsequent concerts.

Well, Springsteen recreated that moment in Paris last Thursday, and it was actually made sweeter by the fact that this time, the “fan” he pulled from the audience to dance with him was his own daughter, 20-year-old Jessica Springsteen. Fan video captures it below.

Oh Alice Cooper, is there anything you can’t do? You created, then revolutionized shock rock, hung out with Elvis, kicked booze and drugs and turned your golf hobby into an art form, even writing a book about it. And now you are selflessly using your wealth of experience for good and not evil, helping to guide a younger generation grappling with Life’s Big Issues™.

Great new video alert! It’s got hotties in underwear and action and skateboards!

It’s the latest track from High Flying Birds, a.k.a. former Oasis honcho Noel Gallagher, who plays a cab driver to a distraught and stripped-down Mischa Barton, best known as actress from The O.C. True to the song’s title, “Everybody’s On the Run.”

These are not the most informative or educational videos you'll see today but guaranteed they are the cutest: dogs, cats, bears, birds, rodents and others animals losing their critter marbles and 'performing' along with death metal acts like Slayer, Opeth, Vital Remains, Exodus and more.
