The great thing about slow news days: they allow us the opportunity to celebrate silly, fun but otherwise worthless ephemera, like famous album covers by Pink Floyd, the Velvet Underground, Kanye West, the Strokes, Primal Scream and Wire, recreated using socks.
Yup, stinky, dirty, everyday Mark’s Work Warehouse-approved socks.

Like Concrete Blonde, Steve Earle and The Cult, Supertramp were always wildly (incongruously?) popular in Canada. So news of an all-star tribute to the British classic rockers featuring current/former members of Yes, XTC, Asia, the Doors, King Crimson, Deep Purple, Mr. Mister, Starship and – believe it or not – other marquee musicians comes as very good news.
Oh that wacky Charlie Sheen… his presence just makes everything a little more colorful, doesn’t it?
Just yesterday, he enlivened a ceremony presenting Guns N’ Roses guitar god Slash with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by slagging Slash’s former bandmate Axl Rose which at this point seems like shooting fish in a barrel but hey, we’ll take the laughs where we find them.
We are literally counting down the days until August 14 when the hotly anticipated Fleetwood Mac tribute disc titled Just Tell Me That You Want Me and featuring Marianne Faithfull, the New Pornographers, MGMT, members of Sonic Youth and ZZ Top and others is released.
So we are stoked to be able to exclusively preview Faithfull’s reading of the Stevie Nicks song “Angel” lifted from the forthcoming record.
