It’s nice to know that even overachievers like onetime Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash – who boasts membership in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame, owns one of music’s best opening riffs (“Sweet Child O’ Mine”) and wrote a heck of a memoir – still has unfulfilled dreams. His latest: an appearance on kids program Sesame Street.

If they adopt the irresistible, no-holds-barred approach used by Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards in their autobiographies, then the forthcoming memoir by original MTV veejays Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and Martha Quinn could be a sizzler.
After all, it was the crazy 80s with all that cocaine and booze and those wacky shoulder pads, y’all.
Depending on your POV, this is either really sad news (“Fairy tales so DON’T come true!”) or really happy news (“Maybe I have a chance to score with a rock star!”). Either way, it appears to be news, which is saying something else entirely. Poison screamer and reality TV show star Bret Michaels has called off his engagement with longtime love Kristi Gibson.
Depending on your POV, this is either great news (for rock fans) or terrible news (for reality TV fans).
On the very day Jennifer Lopez mused publicly about throwing in the towel on her American Idol judging gig, Aerosmith screamer Steven Tyler has actually done it, saying he won’t return for a third season on the wildly popular TV talent show so he can focus on his band instead.
It is probably the most moving thing you will see today. A stark, heart-wrenching new ad by environmental group Greenpeace as part of its campaign to preserve the Arctic features music by Radiohead and a voice-over by actor Jude Law. But the real “star” is a female polar bear shown to be forced from her habitat due to climate change.

This is a great time to be a Trubie (better known as a die-hard fan of True Blood). Sinewy Stooges screamer Iggy Pop and Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino are set to debut a collaborative track on the HBO vampire series. "Let's Boot and Rally," a duet between the pair, will play July 8 during the end credits of the fifth episode of the show's current and fifth season.

Provocative headline and hey, it could happen if things go spectacularly well for shock rocker Marilyn Manson, who is set for a guest appearance on the seventh season of awesome Showtime series Californication.

Oh that KISS! Is there anything (save cigarettes) that classic rockers Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and crew won’t slap their name or image on to make a buck? Answer: not a chance.
We’ve seen KISS mini-golf, KISS caskets, KISS shot glasses and blankets, KISS wine and KISS pinball. Now we prepare for the launch of KISS “vinyl figures, bobble heads, apparel, plush, novelty, barware, social expressions (whatever that is) and fine art” co-branded with Family Guy.

It was only a matter of time before the bright lights over at Funny or Die got around to skewering the celebrity judges on American Idol, The Voice and X Factor. But who knew they'd command such talent to do it?
Witness as classic rocker Meat Loaf, alt-rockers Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) and Serj Tankian (System of a Down), pop stars Debbie Gibson and Natalie Imbruglia and YouTube phenom Rebecca Black poke fun at Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson, Adam Levine and the rest.

These days, if you want to supercharge your profile and boost your currency with the kids, all you have to do is become a judge on a reality TV show – just ask Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Howard Stern, Sharon Osbourne… and rocker-cum-crooner Rod Stewart, who is set to join the UK version of The X Factor, subbing in for judge Kelly Rowland.
