We might have guessed this was coming. Long-suffering Aerosmith guitar-wrangler Joe Perry has inked a deal to write his autobiography which is tentatively slated to arrive in fall 2013. And Perry – onetime Toxic Twin, now second fiddle, to bandmate Steven Tyler (himself a memoirist), promises dirt. Well, maybe.
It seems hard to believe now but there was a time not so long ago when arena rockers Aerosmith were considered uncool. Really uncool. So uncool, in fact, that it took an endorsement from happening rappers Run-DMC to nudge the Boston rockers back into favor via a hiphop-ified version of the hit “Walk This Way” complete with a pretty hilarious video.
You have seen that, right? If not, scroll down RIGHT NOW and watch it below. It’s practically rock history for heaven’s sake. Anyway, it was like 1986 all over again on Tuesday night in New Jersey when Run-D.M.C.'s Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels joined Aerosmith on stage for a recreation of that hit.
Depending on your POV, this is either great news (for rock fans) or terrible news (for reality TV fans).
On the very day Jennifer Lopez mused publicly about throwing in the towel on her American Idol judging gig, Aerosmith screamer Steven Tyler has actually done it, saying he won’t return for a third season on the wildly popular TV talent show so he can focus on his band instead.
Once again we are left to ask: is there anything Steven Tyler can’t do?
The Aerosmith rock god, American Idol judge, memoirist and fashionista is now set to add voice-over artist to his resume with news that he will join an all-star cast including Beyoncé Knowles, Pitbull, SNL star Jason Sudeikis, Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried and Jackass Johnny Knoxville in a new animated movie from 20th Century Fox, called Epic.

It was only a matter of time before the bright lights over at Funny or Die got around to skewering the celebrity judges on American Idol, The Voice and X Factor. But who knew they'd command such talent to do it?
Witness as classic rocker Meat Loaf, alt-rockers Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) and Serj Tankian (System of a Down), pop stars Debbie Gibson and Natalie Imbruglia and YouTube phenom Rebecca Black poke fun at Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson, Adam Levine and the rest.

These days, if you want to supercharge your profile and boost your currency with the kids, all you have to do is become a judge on a reality TV show – just ask Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Howard Stern, Sharon Osbourne… and rocker-cum-crooner Rod Stewart, who is set to join the UK version of The X Factor, subbing in for judge Kelly Rowland.
Is Aerosmith’s 1975 anthem “Sweet Emotion” the top classic rock song of all time? Totally, dude, says the brain-trust behind Ultimate Classic Rock, who last month rolled out what it deems the top 100 most kick-butt rock hits evah, beginning at number 100 with Sammy Hagar’s “I Can’t Drive 55” (now the theme song to traffic reports on radios everywhere) and ending with the above-mentioned Boston band’s sinewy chestnut.
Aerosmith screamer Steven Tyler really likes Burger King’s new crispy Chicken Strips. In fact, he likes them so much that he’s promoting them in a TV ad… and not some obscure TV ad seen only in Japan à la Lost in Translation, thus saving face with fans who might think it unseemly for a beloved rock star to be shilling fast food. Nope. Our man is pushing cheap and greasy chicken en Anglais.

Steven Tyler may be many things but excessively humble isn’t one of them… which may be fair enough given the man’s achievements (see world-famous rock band, gig on top-rated reality TV show, best-selling memoir et al).
This Sunday, the Aerosmith screamer, along with his bandmates, is profiled on TV news magazine show 60 Minutes. In that interview – see a clip below – Tyler boldly claims responsibility for the band’s decades-long success, admitting he’s tough to work with but arguing that his perfectionism has catapulted Aerosmith’s creativity.
The debate about whether or not Jennifer Lopez suffered a nipple-slip at Sunday’s Oscars ends here: Aerosmith howler (and perhaps more importantly, American Idol judge) Steven Tyler has weighed in… and the answer is nuh-huh.
