Reality shocker: the amazing Stevie Nicks recently turned 64… and man, does she wear it well. Talented, smart and still totally beautiful. Can you tell I am a fan?
The NME notes that the record, which is being produced by Randall Poster - who also shepherded the Buddy Holly tribute Rave On – pits the guitar prowess of Ranaldo and Mascis on Fleetwood Mac founding member Peter Green's guitar instrumental 'Albatross.’ Cool.
Also of note: Antony Hegarty from Antony and the Johnsons tackling ‘Landslide,’ the Kills doing ‘Dreams,’ and British singer/songwriter Karen Elson covering ‘Gold Dust Woman.’
What is perhaps more intersting about the collection is what it omits: huge hits like 'Go Your Own Way,' 'Sara,' 'Don't Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)' and pretty much the entire Tango in the Night record ('Big Love,' 'Little Lies' etc). The aim seems to be shining a spotlight on oft-overlooked tracks.
