Is British pop superstar, Take That singer Robbie Williams thinking of adding Michael Jackson’s Neverland to his portfolio of luxury properties? That’s the suggestion following a report that Williams was spotted checking out the infamous California estate yesterday.
According to an item in TMZ.com (and widely picked up), "Spies saw Robbie roll up to the house Thursday afternoon in his Range Rover." Naturally. The mansion is on the market for a staggering $23.9 million.
Williams - estimated net worth $149 million – is said to be a fan of Jackson’s so the visit might have just been whimsy or even morbid curiosity. Judging by the images I’ve seen, including those posted by England’s Daily Mail, there is something weirdly tacky and over-the-top about Neverland (something weird and over-the-top associated with MJ… shocking!).
The singer (Williams) apparently already owns a home in Beverly Hills which he bought for $16 million in 2008. He also purchased a house down the road to use as a soccer field. For those keeping score, the house at Neverland is 17,000 square feet with seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
The property went on sale last Monday with the realtor's website describing it as the centrepiece of an "elegant and sophisticated French chateau estate." It includes its own movie theatre, a gym, a pool and 12 working fireplaces.
"The estate... offers a glamorous theatre for screenings in a grand style, a magnificent wine cellar and tasting room, elevator, a spacious spa with gym, and an elegant guesthouse," as well as an "expansive pool and gardens," the website stated.
All that and one really freaky ghost at no extra charge. By the way, I have included some awesome video from 1983 with MJ laying out 'Billy Jean' - and the 'Moon Walk' - at the Motown 25th anniversary show. God that's exciting to watch! A sad reminder of what he once was... and what he became.
Having lived in the U.K. for a long time, I take everything said about Robbie Williams with a grain of salt. He is a total nut job......who made it VERY big.
With only having $149 million, I don't think I would be spending $23.9 million of it on Neverland. It would take the rest of the money just to keep it up.
you've lived in the UK for a long time, eh?
Robbie like all celebs that make it big are targeted by sad individuals who for some reason can't see others have any thing. The media make stories up it sells papers, mags, air time on daft celeb programmes. A pinch of salt, not because you think he's a nut job, but because the media want to sell their crap to make money. So people like yourself buy into it. Grow up if he's a nut job or not it shouldn't matter what he spends his money on. I for one love most of Robbie's music, and not because its Robbie Williams. But I won't buy into anything anyone writes because its all guess work or made up. Media idiots get with the programme.
I don't think he should buy it.This was Michael's home,a place where he was happy before it all went to hell in a hand basket.IMO Michael's kids should have been asked if they wanted to buy it first. To Thomas...Michael was never a "nut job"!What he was,was a man greatly misunderstood. He was also the greatest entertainer this world will ever see.A man who had a gentle soul and a kind heart,i'm sorry you couldn't see that.
