Here are nine words I never, ever thought I would say: I am starting to feel sorry for Axl Rose.

After being skewered for skipping Guns N' Roses' recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - but not before issuing a blabby open letter that revealed him to be both seemingly ungrateful and woefully out-of-touch with reality – the singer is now taking it on the chin, almost literally.

During a Sunday night show in Liverpool, England – where the band, typically, took the stage late – a punter threw what appears to be a full pint of beer on stage directly at our man.

Fan video below shows the offending object sailing over Rose's right shoulder about 1:40 into the clip. Liquid can then be seen splashing up behind the singer.

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo and quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock, Rose and company kept the audience waiting for nearly two hours after the opening act, going on stage around 11 pm and not finishing their show until nearly 2 am.

Apparently, the beer-tosser was expressing his/her displeasure with Rose’s famous lack of punctuality by throwing a pint of liquid up on stage which frankly is inexcusable. You can hate the guy and demand a refund but tossing glass is just not cool.

Plus, if the band began at 11 and ended at 2, that's three hours of rock and roll, which is a lot of show for your pound sterling. And can anyone really be surprised by a late-starting GN'R show at this point? Jeesh.

Rose halted the show, telling the crowd, “If you wanna throw s—, we’ve got no problem going home. Otherwise we’d all love to have a good time tonight, right? So don’t f— it up for your friends here tonight. Thank you very much.” He then had the band restart the song, "Welcome to the Jungle."

Rose handled it well, but that kind of behaviour from so-called fans has got to sting.

AXL Rose is an Idiot.

Maybe if Axl and company weren't so late taking the stage the fan wouldn't of been so drunk and pissed off to throw the beer at him... well, drunk maybe, but not pissed off.

Axl cares not for his fans only himself. He really needs to get his meds checked or go get some!

GN'R needs more guns and less rose!

another day in the life of the worlds grea....worst cover band

I wish people would just get over the fact that it isn't 25 years ago and let the original band rest. It's not a cover band....it's a band that has evolved....people come and go and musician line-ups change. I think anyone who doesn't like them now should just listen to old albums and not look at them anymore.

By the way....what an ass that throws things at a singer. What's the point of going just to be abusive.

GN'R hasn't evolved at all... it's just Axl with hired hands he hasn't fired... yet! His magnum opus "Chinese Democracy" that took over a decade to make was a huge piece of crap. How can one defend a guy that makes fans wait two hours for him to show up? That isn't respecting your fan base, it's all about his ego. I do agree that people shouldn't throw stuff at him or anyone but if you treat people with disrespect you get disrespect thrown right back at you... literally in this case!

the guy who through the beer didnt go to be abusive he was venting his anger at having to leave to catch his train having only heard half a song from gnr true fan pissed off

@Karyn Someone who understands Axl is an ego freak, he throws little kid fits and in the past tackled a fan for recording their performance. The "man" only cares about himself.

Goons and rose

karyn u r amazing, well said. i love gnr! old and new!

As much as I agree that throwing bottles and whatnot is lame and rather toolish, I gotta say, I'm disappointed that the guy missed.

rose is an id-iot. plain and simple.

Typical Scouser

I agree with Karyn, it was about 25 years ago now that G'N'R performed in its original line-up and they were great. Yes, let the original band rest, listen to the original band's recordings (they are excellent), and stop mouthing off about Axl's social attitude. If an original fan looked back honestly, they might discover that Axl's attitude was one of the things that endeared him to them in the first place. If you don't like him now, ignore him and don't go to the shows. Its really no different than any entertainment...its YOUR choice. I think perhaps some of these people who are so quick to criticize others should first take a close look at themselves!!! Nobody is beyond reproach!!!

People are really getting fed up with this guy and are sick of tolerating his 'spoiled kid' attitude and hissy fits. Grow up Axl, everyone else has!

How about you show up on time when you're supposed to? Then you won't get pelted by fans...

If I went to the concert and they weren't there for 2 hours, I would catch the very last train possible and I would ruin their friggin night!!!

no appreciation for a full beer? scandalous.
