The awesome Ford should be all sunshine and light right now – her hotly tipped new album Living Like a Runaway hits stores next month and she is set to spend the summer playing areas and amphitheatres alongside Def Leppard and Poison which sounds like some kind of heaven to yours truly.

Instead, according to Decibel magazine, she’s dealing with a nasty divorce, claiming her ex-husband has “brainwashed” their kids and kept her from seeing them.

Speaking to Decibel, Ford explains, “My kids (sons James and Rocco) are with their dad (Jim Gillette, former frontman of the band Nitro). There was a huge divorce that went down. Basically, he brainwashed them and took them from me — not legally, (but by saying), ‘Oh, you don’t want to go with Mommy, Mommy’s bad. Don’t go with Mommy.’”

Ford has fired back with the song ‘Mother,’ where she talks directly to her children: “He paints an ugly picture of you and I / So far from truth / It’s so hard to see / The only way to hurt me was through my love for you / I am your mother / Please understand why I have to leave / The pain was deep / He was hurting me.” Check it out below.

Unfortunately, the guitarist isn’t sure her children will get to hear the track anytime soon: “He won’t let them hear it,” she tells Decibel. “He won’t let them have anything to do with me. He won’t let them look at any photographs. I’m wondering if they even have a computer… I miss them, I love them. They’re my life.”

Well, rumour has it Ford and Gillette married after knowing each other only a few weeks, so maybe this ugly divorce business isn’t so surprising after all. On the plus side, Ford IS touring with Poison and Def Leppard... mmmm Leppard. Catch ‘em if you can.
