Here’s a question to take into your weekend: if God is behind everything in the world, including music, how come so much of it is bad? We might have the answer: it’s because God is also behind the Grammys, and only those who make great music get to walk offstage clutching a golden gramophone in their hands.

Doubt it? Check out the montage below, which shows artists from Whitney Houston to Helen Reddy, MJ to U2, Mariah to Marvin Gaye, thanking the Lord for their Grammys.

With the 54th annual awards set to roll this Sunday, we couldn’t help but wonder who will win this year… and who will give props to the man (woman?) upstairs from their podium perch. We’ll be watching.
