Members of vintage stadium rockers Journey – the guys behind evergreen classic anthem “Don’t Stop Believin’” – seem to be popping up in the press for all the wrong reasons lately.  Last year, guitarist Neal Schon made headlines for an affair he was having with a very married reality TV star.

Now it appears drummer Deen Castronovo ran afoul of the law last Saturday in Oregon. According to a report on TMZ.com, Deen was booked into Polk County Jail on a number of charges, including coercion, assault, criminal mischief, interfering with making a report and harassment over an alleged incident involving his girlfriend.

Sources apparently tell TMZ that some of the charges stem from an altercation that occurred after an alleged physical blowout when Deen's girlfriend ran out of the house to call her father and the musician allegedly grabbed the phone out of her hand and refused to let her contact her dad.

A representative for Castronovo is quoted by TMZ as saying the incident "was a misunderstanding that should not have been escalated to such a level in the first place." Deen was released after posting $52,500.00 bail. His booking photo can be seen here.

Isn't he a tad old to be seeing a girl who needs to call her dad!?

This is not a rock star. He is a washed up "never was" who plays drums for a second rate band who had a couple of passable songs 30 years ago. Not a rock star. Not even relevent at all.

it's obvious from your remark Mike D you didn't like Journey. However many did and they made many great records. Unfortunately the band fell apart when Steve Perry left the group even though others have replaced him, the band was never the same and still isn't.

Deen is an incredible musician. He is a great drummer and vocalist. It looks like he made an unfortunate choice in a girlfriend who had to turn this in to a media circus. He is still solid to me.

Hey Mike D. .. I'll bet even if he's washed up like your lil mind thinks that he's still 100 times than you !!!!

mrsroberts, why do you assume the girlfriend is the one who caused the confrontation?

Maybe Deen really is at fault here since the charges include coercion, assault and interfering with making a report of the incident. Sounds to me like he went off on her and she tried to leave and report the incident to the cops/her dad (how old she is doesn't matter, a woman should be able to call her dad at any age for some help). I'm tired of people supporting those who commit acts of assault just because the fans like the celebrities.

I don't know if he is guilty or not, I'll wait until the facts come out (not like it really matters to me), but I'm not going to blame the alleged victim for this. And any woman who ignores what may be an assault on another woman should be ashamed of themself. That is parallel to, if not equal to, people blaming victims or rape/sexual assault for 'putting themselves in that position'. Disgraceful that we still feel the need to revictimize people already in need of support.

I guess she "Stopped Believin'"

Hey "Illiterate Ar*ehole" -- This sentence is incomplete and makes little sense. Next time, put down your crackpipe before you post.

First Neal Schon sending pictures of his "not so schlong" across the 'net and now this. Maybe it's time for these guys to pack it in.
